Music students in the School of Performing Arts | Music | Theatre | Cinema, perform an informal afternoon recital.  Free and open to the public.




Special Event: All-Virginia Band and Orchestra - 11:30 am, Thursday, April 3, 2014 - Center for the Arts Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre

The All-Virginia Band and Orchestra is sponsored by the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA).  It will feature three ensembles - two bands and one orchestra - with approximately 350 high school students from across the Commonwealth. These are the best and brightest of Virginia's students - not only talented musicians, but outstanding scholars!! Registration begins on Thursday, April 3rd at 11:30am in the lobby of the Center for the Arts.  The event will conclude with the final concert on Saturday, April 5th at 1:30pm in the Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre at the Center For the Arts.  




Virginia Tech Student Ensembles Concert - 7:30 pm, Friday, April 4, 2014 - Center for the Arts Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre

On Friday night, ensembles from the Department of Music will perform a showcase concert for those in attendance at the All-State Band and Orchestra festival. The 7:30 pm concert will feature the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, the Jazz Ensemble, and other groups. This concert is free and open to the public.

The final concert of the All-Virginia Band and Orchestra is at 1:00pm in the Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre in the Center for the Arts.  The All-Virginia Band and Orchestra is sponsored by the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA).  It will feature three ensembles - two bands and one orchestra - with approximately 350 high school students from across the Commonwealth. The students of the Gamma Mu chapter of Delta Omicron, an international music service fraternity, perform solos and ensemble music in an afternoon recital.  Student recitals are free and open to the public.

Music on Mondays: Elizabeth Crone, flute - 7:30 pm, Monday, April 7, 2014 - Squires Recital Salon [map]

Music on Mondays presents artist faculty in the School of Performing Arts | Music | Theatre | Cinema.  This evening's recital features  flutist Elizabeth Crone with collaborative pianist, Jay Crone.  These recitals are free and open to the public.

Caroline Richards and Travis Whaley perform a shared junior piano recital.  Student recitals are free and open to the public.




Special Event: Exposition I - 3:00 pm, Sunday, April 13, 2014 - Center for the Arts Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre

Join talented students and faculty from the department of music for a concert benefiting the department's scholarship fund.  Tickets are $20 general | $15 senior | $10 students. This concert is sponsored by the professional music fraternity Delta Omicron.  All proceeds of the concert will go to Delta Omicron and be used to support scholarships in Music at Virginia Tech. 

The Moss Arts Center Box Office hours are 12 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. The New River Valley Orchestra performs an evening concert. The Vocal Area presents eight selected students in a wide variety of favorite songs, from German lieder to Broadway. Featuring Geoffrey Brown, Caleb Caldwell, Nora Cotter, Tina Mascaro, Matt McKinney, Jessica Vance, Becca Wiles, and Paul Wolf and collaborative pianist, Richard Masters. Tina Mascaro, soprano and Katherine Combs, mezzo-soprano, present a shared junior recital.  Student recitals are free and open to the public.




Music on Mondays: John Walker, oboe - 7:30 pm, Monday, April 28, 2014 - Squires Recital Salon [map]

Music on Mondays presents artist faculty in the School of Performing Arts | Music | Theatre | Cinema.  John Walker, oboe, will be performing the U. S. premiere of Luis Pérez Valero's Three Pieces for Charlie Parker for solo English horn on Monday, April 28, on the campus of Virginia Tech. The concert, which starts at 7:30 pm, will also include works by Hindemith, Persichetti and Kauder. Richard Masters, piano, will be assisting in the performance.  Music on Mondays are free and open to the public.
