Prospective Members

Thinking about joining Tau Beta Sigma?
Here are a few of the most commonly asked questions about joining our organization:


1.  Is Tau Beta Sigma your typical sorority?
     Answer:  No!  We are less exclusive than most sororities, and even though we are not very large in numbers, we feel that our smaller size fosters a better bond of sisterhood.


2.  What kind of service projects do we do?
    Answer:  We help with Hokies for the Hungry (H4TH), wash cars for the VTPD, clean up our adopt-a-highway, instrument petting zoos at local elementary schools, ushering for the Music Department, cleaning and organizing the music library, helping to run band camp (including the rookie picnic and registration), MV's uniform return after dry-cleaning, and fundraising for charitable organizations (this year we raised money and sheets for the MV Welcome Home Brigade for soldiers coming home from Iraq).


3.  Who can join?
        Answer:  Anyone who has been in a recognized ensemble for one or more semesters (including current ensembles), and who wishes to further serve the band.  First-semester freshman are now eligible to become membership candidates.


4.  How do I express my interest in joining?
    Answer:  Come meet us and find out more.  Feel free to ask any sister about our organization at any time.  We're always happy to answer questions and we'd love to get to know you!
           Upcoming opportunities to hang out with the sisters:
            -No current opportunities, but keep checking back at the beginning of fall semester!

5.  What is the membership education process like?
    Answer:  The membership education process is eight weeks long, and includes learning information about our organization and its members, performing service projects and fundraisers, getting to know the sisters and the brothers of Kappa Kappa Psi, and showing your love of music and the band.
