Inaugural Virginia Tech Band-A-Rama Scholarship Benefit Spectacular
The Inaugural Virginia Tech Band-A-Rama Scholarship Benefit Spectacular will be held in Burruss Auditorium at 7:30 pm on Friday, November 10, 2006. Featuring the University Jazz Ensemble, University Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and The Marching Virginians, the event is a celebration of all things band at Virginia Tech.
Narrated by Dr. Tony Distler - "The Voice of the Marching Virginians" for over thirty years - the concert offers the listener a wide-angle look at the bands, ranging from the spirited charts offered by the Jazz Ensemble, through the contemporary compositions of Dr. James Sochinski, as performed by the University Symphonic Wind Ensemble. The MVs will conclude the program with a number of high-energy works from their season supporting Hokie football. Hopefully, every patron will walk out whistling their favorite tune from the evening!
Tickets are $15; $5 for students and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased at the Department of Music (Squires 241) or at the door on the night of the concert. Proceeds will go toward music scholarships.
