Guest Artists Vural and Ross to Perform Recital
Guest Baritone singer Sinan Vural, accompanied by guest pianist Nicholas Ross, will perform in the Squires Recital Salon at 8 p.m. on March 21, 2006. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door.
Baritone Sinan Vural, born in Ankara, Turkey, received an academic degree in Computer Science before he began singing. He started his vocal studies with Anne Haenen at the conservatory in Enschede, The Netherlands, which he continued with Cora Canne Meijer at the New Opera Academy within the Conservatory of Amsterdam. In recent seasons he has been performing leading parts in several long-running productions intended particularly for young audiences in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Vural?s repertory includes many oratorio works such as St. Matthew?s Passion and St. John?s Passion and a great number of cantatas by Bach, Requiems by Mozart, Faur?, Durufl?, Brahms, as well as more contemporary works like ?La Danse des Morts? (A.Honegger). This spring Vural will give a series of song recitals with pianist Nicholas Ross in the US and the Netherlands. In June he will perform in an open-air production of Monteverdi?s ?L?Orfeo.? Next season he will sing the role of Malatesta in a Dutch tour of Donizetti?s ?Don Pasquale.?
