VT Choirs Begin Season This Week
The Virginia Tech Choirs are beginning their fall season on Friday, October 28 with a concert by the Concert Choir, Women?s Chorale, and the newly formed Men?s Chorus present an evening of music ranging from folk songs and spirituals to works by Victoria, Monteverdi, Handel, and Villa Lobos. Conducted by Brian Gendron. Squires Recital Salon, 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the door ($3 Students/Seniors, $5 General)
The season continues on Friday, November 4, with a concert bringing together Virginia Tech?s Symphonic Choir and the Blacksburg Master Chorale. Both groups are under the direction of Brian Gendron and will feature works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Guest soloists and chamber orchestra join to perform Ave Verum Corpus, Missa Brevis in F, and Vesperae Solennes de Confessore. This performance marks the start of the Master Chorale?s 18th season. The Chamber Singers begin their season on Friday, November 11 at 8 p.m. in Squires Recital Salon with Johannes Brahms? Neue Liebeslieder Walzer with pianists William Creel and Michael Ho. The evening also includes exciting works by G.F. Handel, Charles Ives, Gerald Finzi, and Percy Aldridge Grainger. Tickets available at the door ($3 Students/Seniors, $5 General).
Finally, the Virginia Tech Choirs join the New River Valley Symphony Orchestra and the Blacksburg Master Chorale for a Holiday Concert to benefit the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund on December 6 at 8 p.m. in Burruss Auditorium.
