Symphonic Wind Ensemble Director Search

Virginia Tech – Visiting Assistant Professor, Director of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble. One-year faculty appointment with the possibility of renewal, pending budgetary approval. Full time, 9 months. Salary commensurate with training and experience. Start Date: August 10, 2013. DUTIES: Conduct the Symphonic Wind Ensemble.  Teach courses in conducting.  Additional duties are dependent upon the qualifications and interests of the applicant and the needs of the Department of Music. Maintain an active performing career and program of appropriate research and creative activity. Serve on committees and perform other appropriate university service. QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in music required; doctorate or equivalent experience is preferred. Evidence of significant professional experience as an artist conductor and excellence in teaching conducting at the college level is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate high potential for recruitment and for building an outstanding program. We seek candidates with the demonstrated potential to contribute effectively to a faculty team dedicated to creating a positive, dynamic, and inclusive learning environment for an increasingly diverse student population.
