| The bangdi is mainly popular in the north part of China, used for accompaniment or solo in Chinese opera. | |
| PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: | |
The bangdi is made of bamboo, and is around 40 cm in length. Similar to the piccolo, it has a mouthpiece, 6 open finger holes, and several auxiliary finger holes. It is smaller than the qudi. | |
| SOUND PROPERTIES: | |
The bangdi produces light and melodious sound similar to the qudi, only pitched higher. The sound can be strong and expressive for robust and lively emotions | |
