  1. The ending of a composition or passage; a cadence.
  2. A term used in rudimental drumming that refers to the speed at which a rudiment is performed. Typically, when a rudiment is performed, it is performed multiple times starting slow (or open), then getting gradually faster (or close), then getting gradually slower (or open).
