Joetta Petersen, instructor of class piano
Joetta Petersen is a native Virginian, born and raised in Franklin County. She is a graduate of James Madison University where she studied with Marion Perkins and performed, among other things, Ravel’s Sonatine for Piano and Dello Joio’s Suite for Piano. A 15-year Blacksburg resident, Petersen has been rehearsal accompanist and featured concert performer with the Blacksburg Master Chorale for 10 years, with whom her repertory includes the Durufle Requiem, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, and Rutter’s Gloria. She has performed with this group on piano, organ, and harpsichord. As an organist, Petersen has served Blacksburg Baptist Church for 15 years. She maintains a private piano studio of 30 students and has also been an accompanist for Virginia Tech students for many years.
