Symphonic Choir
The Symphonic Choir is a large mixed chorus comprised of undergraduate and graduate students from various degree programs. This ensemble joins the Blacksburg Master Chorale to perform major choral works with orchestra, including collaborations with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra and the New River Valley Symphony Orchestra. Recent performances include Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Durufle’s Requiem, Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms, Bach’s Mass in B minor and Magnificat, Pärt’s Te Deum, and Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem. They have also joined Opera Roanoke for Verdi’s Macbeth and Beethoven’s Fidelio. The Symphonic Choir’s upcoming season includes Rutter’s Gloria and Mozart’s Coronation Mass.

The Audition Process:
- Demonstrate your range by singing ascending and descending scales
- Sight-sing a given musical example
- Sing My Country ‘tis of Thee (a cappella)
