Tech Men

The Tech Men are an audience favorite, performing music from the Renaissance to Barbershop and vocal jazz, spanning diverse international cultures. With a sound uniquely their own, they infuse concerts with richness of harmony, humor, and inspiring majesty. They rehearse on Mondays with the VT Women's Chorus and frequently join the other VT choirs to perform major works for choir and orchestra.
- Number of performers: open
- Rehearsal Times: M/R, 5:30-6:55
- Location: Squires Recital Salon
Auditions
You must pass an audition that includes vocalizing throughout your range, a short sight-reading exercise, tonal memory repetitions, and a familiar song (such as "My Country Tis of Thee," "Amazing Grace," or "Happy Birthday"). You do not need to bring a prepared solo.
If you would like more information about the audition process or the choirs in general before you sign up, please join us at the Choir Interest Meeting in Squires Recital Salon from 8:00-9:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of fall semester classes. All those interested in joining a choir should attend. All Virginia Tech returning choir members will be there to welcome the new singers and answer any questions you may have. This is also an opportunity to hear (and sing) exactly what will be required in your audition. We will then learn a short excerpt from one of the pieces to be featured on the Fall Choir Showcase. With nearly 150 singers attending, it will certainly be an exciting kick-off to the choral year! We will finish with a question/answer period and have sign-up sheets for you to find a time for your individual audition.
If you are interested in being considered for Chamber Singers, you must bring a prepared solo and sign up for an audition BEFORE the first Wednesday of classes.
If you have any questions or concerns about the audition process, please contact Dr. Bigler at dbigler@vt.edu.
