Virginia Tech Honor Band Final Concert - 1:00 pm, Sunday, January 26, 2014 - Center for the Arts Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre

The Seventeenth Annual Virginia Tech Honor Band is scheduled for January 24-26, 2014.  We are pleased to announce that the world-class Street and Davis Performance Hall in the beautiful new Virginia Tech Center for the Arts will serve as our performance venue throughout the weekend culminating with the final concert at 1 pm on Sunday, January 26.  That concert is free and open to the public. The move to our state-of-the-art Center for the Arts will bring some exciting changes to enhance the overall student experience throughout the event.  400 students, all nominated by their band directors, will spend the weekend in rehearsals, clinics, and performances on the Virginia Tech campus.  Dr. Andrew Putnam, Director of the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Dr. Polly Middleton, Assistant Director of Athletic Bands, and two guest clinicians, will conduct three high school bands and one middle school band. For 2014, our guest clinicians are composer and music educator Michael Oare, Director of Bands at Great Bridge Middle School in Chesapeake, and Doug Spruill, Director of Bands at Poquoson High School in Poquoson. Virginia Tech faculty members will present master classes and performances throughout the weekend for the students, directors, and parents in attendance. Nominations from school band directors will be accepted from October 1 through November 1, 2013.
