The Virginia Tech Horn Studio presents an evening recital featuring solos and ensembles.  Student recitals are free and open to the public.

Brandon Toma performs a senior trumpet recital.  Student recitals are free and open to the public.




Faculty Recital: Elizabeth Crone, flute - 3:00 pm, Saturday, May 4, 2013 - Squires Recital Salon [map]

Elizabeth Crone performs an afternoon flute recital assisted by Erica Ann Sipes.  Featuring the Sonata in A Major by Franck, Duo for Flute and Piano by Copland, the 'Hamburger' Sonata by CPE Bach, and Reflections for Solo Flute by Hoover.  This recital is free and open to the public.

 




Faculty Recital: Robert Chafin, tenor - 8:00 pm, Saturday, May 4, 2013 - Squires Recital Salon [map]

Robert Chafin, tenor, performs a faculty recital.  This recital is free and open to the public.

 




Student Ensemble Concert: Symphonic Wind Ensemble - 3:00 pm, Sunday, May 5, 2013 - Old Dominion Ballroom [map]

The Virginia Tech Symphonic Wind Ensemble, conducted by Travis J. Cross, features chamber ensembles on its spring concert, including Richard Strauss's Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare and selections from Mozart operas in versions for Harmoniemusik octet with faculty guest soloists Ariana Wyatt, soprano, and Robert Chafin, tenor. The program concludes with William Walton's Crown Imperial. Student ensemble concerts are $5 general, $3 senior, and $3 student. Tickets are available at the venue door beginning one hour prior to the performance.

Christopher Cummins performs a senior cello recital.  Student recitals are free and open to the public.




DISIS Spring 2013 Event - 8:00 pm, Monday, May 6, 2013 - Squires Studio Theatre

 

VT Institute for Creativity, Arts and Technology (ICAT) and Music Department's Digital Interactive Sound and Intermedia Studio (DISIS) presents the DISIS Spring 2013 Event, a part of the "Digital iD" performance series featuring an evening of multisensory performances and experiences that fit no preexisting form or template. Sponsored by the Institute for Creativity, Arts and Technology and School of Performing Arts & Cinema, the event will feature performances by guest artists Eric Lyon, Elizabeth Hoffman, Matthew Ostrowski, Virginia Tech's Linux Laptop Orchestra (L2Ork),Wallace Easter, and DISIS faculty artists and students. "Digital iD" offers an explorationof synergies among music, technology, arts, gesture, collaboration, interactivity, and ultimately community.  The main event will be preceded by a 30 minute technology showcase of works created by DISIS students, including demos, installations, and innovative technologies.  The showcase will begin at 7:30pm.

Guest Artist Recital: April Johnson and Peter Seidenberg - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, May 7, 2013 - Squires Recital Salon [map]

The Virginia Tech Guest Artist Series presents violinist April Johnson and cellist Peter Seidenberg in an evening recital.  Johnson and Seindenburg, members of The Oracle Trio,have performed throughout the U.S., interpreting celebrated classics as well as demonstrating a commitment to performing music of our time. The low brass students of Dr. Jay Crone perform an evening recital.  Student recitals are free and open to the public.




Virginia Tech String Project Concert - 7:00 pm, Thursday, May 9, 2013 - Squires Haymarket Theater [map]

The young students in the Virginia Tech String Project perform an evening concert.  The concert will feature special guest artists Peter Seidenberg, Cello and April Johnson, Violin.  This concert is free and open to the public and will be in Haymarket Theatre in the Squires Student Center.
